Teacher plays a defining role in delivering an appropriate experience of young learners who have varied learning needs. To develop  sensibilities, a Pupil Teacher or an aspiring Pupil Teacher in DPSE course needs to be thoroughly trained to work with very young children because a Pre-Primary teacher helps in the smooth transaction between home and school by providing love & care and at the same time, keeping in mind the Psychology of the young children.

Importance of the course
Diploma in DPSE (Diploma In Pre-School Education) provides a platform for professional Pre-Primary teachers to facilitate child centric learning  not only through storytelling, rhyming, games and play but also, they have to undergo intensive knowledge about understanding the Child's Psychology, Programme Planning & Curriculum Design, Health & Hygiene,Development of Language Literacy & Mathematical Concepts.  DPSE  helps the pupil teacher to learn the methods of planned teaching through play and experiments. If one loves to help young children and give them a start in life then, with proper teacher training, one can pursue a career as a Pre-Primary teacher. A  teacher needs to be creative , innovative, experimental and flexible with the vision on optimum child development.

The New Education Policy-2020 (NEP) has categorically stated importance of Early Stage Education known as Foundational (3  years for Pre-School+Grades 1 & 2). The NEP introduces hitherto uncovered 3 years of Pre-Schooling i.e., age group of 3 - 6 years under the school curriculum. 

Consequently there would be enough need for quality teachers having Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education presently known as DPSE (Diploma in Pre-School Education).The DPSE program will be extremely beneficial for all those eyeing a career in the emerging area of education for meeting the demand of young learners at early stage as per New Education Policy.

The SCERT Govt. of Delhi is an autonomous body that provides its support through various programmes which include continuing education of teacher, development of appropriate material for teachers and students. It has been performing pioneering role for providing appropriate Teacher Training Programmes for Foundational (3 years for Pre-School + Grades 1 & 2).
